ABOUT | Healthcare Decision Analysis

The Master of Science in Healthcare Decision Analysis (HCDA) is a 33-unit interdisciplinary graduate program designed to produce healthcare professionals directly prepared for successful business careers in the complex world of value-based healthcare, global market access & reimbursement, product pricing, insurance operations & design and competitive business intelligence.

The first of its kind in the country, the HCDA program provides students with:

  • Opportunity to enter an emerging field in which healthcare, biopharmaceutical, life sciences, and managed care & insurance organizations, as well government policymakers cannot find sufficiently qualified individuals and technically skilled managers to meet demand
  • Innovative tools and skills to develop practical and real world understanding of how different treatment choices impact patient outcomes and value determinations
  • Equivalent of 10 years of experience through simulation & practice and learning-by-doing educational format emphasizing team projects, case studies, and war games
  • Knowledge to become experts in the global industries of biotechnology, CROs, hospitals, insurance, life sciences, managed care, policy, specialty pharmaceuticals and others
  • Access to networking opportunities with leading executives from industry, payers, government, and global healthcare organizations as well as USC’s strong alumni communities
  • Flexible two-weekend per semester course schedules aimed at mid-career working professionals and full-time graduate students, that can be completed in as few as 12 months
  • Distance and classroom structured access to accommodate both full-time and part-time students including on-demand lectures
  • STEM certified program by the USC Office of International Services (OIS), allowing international students to remain in the U.S. up to 24 months after graduation
